The early years of a child's life are essential to their future development. Children have boundless imagination and creativity and these natural born talents need to be nurtured if children are to realise their full potential.

Using and developing these precious skills is so important and there is one way above all others in which children learn to develop these skills - through play.

Play is fundamental to a child´s healthy development and toys are a great way for children to learn. If a toy is all singing and all dancing rather than promote play and development they simply entertain a child - a crucial difference from play - once entertained a child will move on to the next entertainment and then move on again, and again, and so on - cupboard full of boring toys! This is fundamentally different to play. Play is about so many things but crucially development of imagination, social skills, motor skills and other brain functions, to name a few.

Woodland Children believe that children should be taught that their toys are special. When they are bought, they are to be treasured and cared for, when they are broken they can be fixed. This instils a good ethic and routine in children and a carefulness that will set them up well for life.

At the moment we are literally throwing away the Earth by not regarding it as special or caring for it. By teaching children and re-educating ourselves with a way of life that treats everything with more care and patience, we can begin to restore and heal our planet.
